Supporting the Locals

As part of our resolution to eat healthier, yummier, local foods, I’m looking into joining this CSA buying program. I’ve never done this sort of thing before, but the tantalizing amount of fresh, organic fruits and veggies are making my mouth water. I also like the idea of not having to drive all over the place to find it, and at $30.00 a week, it seems like steal! We are also looking for good providers (mail order would be fine) for quality, organic non-perishables. Does anyone have some words of wisdom for me before I jump in? If you are interested in finding your own local providers, this website seems to have a good database.

the peaches look nice. reminds me of summer’s in somebody’s back yard. If you through in apricots and fireflies maybe it was everybody’s back yard.

I’m reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver right now and it’s all about growing your own and/or supporting local growers. You might enjoy it.
