feast prep :: part 2 ::

Today’s big feats were the tablecloth and the chocolate mousse. I found some navy blue brocade-ish stuff at JoAnn’s on sale for $5 a yard so I was able to make a nice, heavy table cloth for $15. This was my first time trying mitered corners (I think that’s what they’re called), and I’m pretty pleased at how well it turned out. The camera was away today, so no pictures, but I promise to post some of the set table tomorrow or Thursday (or maybe Friday!). The chocolate mousse turned out quite nicely too, and it looks quite lovely in its little dessert cups. I also made the brine for the turkey today, but that really wasn’t so hard (the only difficult part was actually putting 4 1/2 cups of salt in it – that’s a lot of salt!). Now its time for a relaxing evening in preparation for the frenzy that will be the next two days!!
