grandma june’s marinated steak

My husband’s grandmother made this fantastic steak for us when we visited in August. I made it for one of Andrew’s Birthday dinners this week, and thought I’d pass it along.

2 1/2″ thick top round steak
seasoned meat tenderizer
juice of 1 lemon
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
4-6 dashes tabasco sauce
1/2 teaspoon coarse pepper
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablesppon dried parsley

Coat each side of steak thoroughly with seasoned meat tenderizer. Perforate thoroughly. Mix remaining ingredients in a ziploc bag and add steak. Marinate 6 hours or overnight. Grill about 8″ from coals or flame, 15 – 20 minutes per side (I cooked ours in a grill pan and it took about 8 minutes per side for a rare steak). Do not overcook. Enjoy with mashed potatoes (our simple recipe is potatoes, butter, salt and pepper, and ranch dressing, all whipped up), cheesy bread, and veggies. Oh, and red wine. Gotta have the wine!
